Jharkhand News: Injured owl rescued by Manika police in Latehar

Daltonganj, April 13: Manika police in Latehar district rescued an injured owl found lying in pain by the side of NH 75 on Sunday.

The injured owl was brought to the Manika police station, after which forest personnel were informed. The bird was later shifted to the forest office for care.

Injury in right eye, treatment underway

In-charge forester Ajay Pandey said the owl has been sheltered on the forest office premises and is being looked after. A local veterinarian has been consulted regarding its condition.

Sources said the owl has a bleeding injury in its right eye and is currently relying on its left eye.

Will be released after recovery

Range officer Umesh Dubey said food and water are being provided to the injured owl. He added that the bird will be released back into the wild once it recovers.

Owls are birds of prey and are carnivorous, feeding on insects, crabs, snails, and reptiles.
