Ranchi, July 19: The state government would regularize the job of contractual multi-purpose workers (MPWs) engaged in the malaria elimination programme.

Principal Secretary of Health Ajay Kumar Singh today in this regard gave a written assurance letter to a delegation of MPWs. The principal secretary of health also asked them to submit their papers and called for a discussion on other demands on July 24.

“The principal secretary of health called us for a talk at Nepal House and assured us that the government would act for the regularization of jobs. He also gave us a written letter for discussion over demand on July 24,” claimed Pawan Kumar, president of Jharkhand State MPWs Association after talking with the principal secretary.

Over 1573 contractual MPWs of the state, working for the last 15 years, have been agitating for the regularization of jobs.   Today as per their scheduled agitational programme they went to gherao the Nepal House in support of one point demand.

As they reached the Nepal House in procession, Principal Secretary Health Ajay Kumar Singh called their 10-member delegation into his chamber to talk over demand.

“Since the government has assured to start the process for regularization of service from July 24, MPWs have called off agitation and the decision to boycott Shravani Mela also,” said Pawan Kumar.

General Secretary Sunil Kumar Shah, Mangal Hembram, Ganesh Prasad Singh, Mukteswar Lal,  Varun Pal, Sujit Kumar, Ravishankar Munda, Upanand Mahto Rajeswar  Oraon, Bhaskar Sarkar, Ravikant Kumar, General Mandal, Awdesh Kumar, Belal Ahmed, Manoj Kumar, Pritesh Kumar, Ajay  Anand, Ritesh Kumar, Amrendra Kumar, Prabhakar Kumar, Alok Kumar, Mithilesh Kumar and other were leading the agitation.
