Ranchi, August 12: The Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday granted bail to former ward councillor Mohammad Aslam, accused of attempting to murder a youth.

Aslam is also named as an accused in the Hindpiri murder case of Sahil alias Kurkure that took place on August 10. This has led to speculation that Ranchi Police may arrest him immediately upon his release from jail.

According to the FIR lodged by Kaleem, a resident of the Hindpiri police station area, on January 23, Aslam and his brother Asif were accused of carrying out a murderous attack on Irshad alias Appu on January 22 in Mojahid Nagar.

The FIR alleges that the former councillor and his brothers opened fire on Irshad with intent to kill him.
