Ranchi, Sept 9: The Jharkhand High Court today expressed displeasure over the absence of the JPSC chairman.
Hearing a case related to the Mains examination for civil judges, junior division, a division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice SN Prasad and Justice AK Rai asked the state government that by when will the chairman or in-charge chairman be appointed in JPSC. The court has scheduled the hearing of the case on Tuesday.
Shweta Tripathi filed petition
A petition was filed by the applicant Shweta Tripathi for conducting the Mains exam of Civil Judge Junior Division soon. On this, the court wanted to know from the state government why the Mains exam has not been held till now. On this, the court was told by the JPSC that the post of chairman is vacant. Therefore, the process of the Mains exam of Civil Judge Junior Division has not been able to move forward.

JPSC chief Dr Mary Neelima Kerketta retired on Aug 21
The court was told that at present no one has been appointed as the new chairman of JPSC. Nor has anyone been given an additional charge. On August 21, JPSC Chairman Dr. Mary Neelima Kerketta retired from the post. Neelima Kerketta was given the command of JPSC in 2022. The post of JPSC Chairman has been vacant since August 22.
