Dhanbad, Feb 26: The week-long Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme for executives of Odisha Mining Corporation Ltd (OMCL) on Advanced Mining Technologies and Personal Effectiveness kicked off here at IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) on Monday.

Altogether, 20 senior executives, including 15 in mining engineering and 5 in geology, are being trained by faculty members of IIT (ISM) and experts of TEXMiN and its industry partners.

Sabyasachi Mohanty, director (technical), OMC Ltd, inaugurated the training programme.

On the occasion, Alok Pal, director (human resource), was the guest of honour. Prof JK Pattanayak, director of IIT (ISM); Prof Dheeraj Kumar, deputy director, IIT (ISM); Suraj Kumar, CEO TEXMiN; and Prof Sagar Pal, Dean (R&D) were also present.

IIT ISM officials said the programme has been developed and customised to meet the needs and interest in receiving training in specific disciplines of mining & allied engineering.

The training will be given through expert lectures in online and offline mode, interactions, and activity-based and problem-solving-oriented sessions using learning material from the onsite experience.

Chief guest inaugurates training program

On occasion, chief guest Sabyasachi Mohanty said that the training would help the participants explore the various aspects of advanced mining technologies and their synchronisation with their personal effectiveness enhancement.

Alok Pal, director (human resource) urged the participants to take full benefit of the CPD programme for gaining knowledge and also for their professional development.

Prof JK Pattanayak, director of IIT (ISM), while lauding the effort of TEXMiN in organising the CPD, said such a programme helps to strengthen further academia-institute ties, which will help benefit both.

Prof Dheeraj Kumar, deputy director of IIT (ISM), said, “With regularly changing technology, the executives must keep in touch with the latest happening on the technology front, and such programs help to serve the purpose”.
