Dhanbad, June 8: The Indian Medical Association Junior Doctors’ Network of Jharkhand chapter has joined its national body in protest against alleged irregularities in the NEET result 2024 and demanded a CBI inquiry into it.

JDN Jharkhand chapter secretary Dr Raghvendra Kumar said that confusion and suspicion about irregularities in the NEET result 2024 have prevailed. “So, the Jharkhand chapter of  JDN also demands CBI inquiry into allegations and re-examination to ensure a fair and transparent evaluation process for all students,” he added.

The national body of the Indian Medical Association Junior Doctors’ Network (JDN) on Friday expressed concern over alleged irregularities in NEET 2024 and shot off a letter to the chairperson of National Testing Agency New Delhi demanding a CBI inquiry and re-examination to clear the mist of allegation.

JDN Jharkhand chapter secretary Dr Raghvendra Kumar said that suspicion of irregularities has aggravated as some students have scored 718 and 719 marks which is statically questionable. There is no defined logic for grace marks given to these students. No list has been shared about giving grace marks to students.

67 students have got 720 marks out of 720

“A highly questionable matter is that 67 students have got 720 marks out of 720 in the examination. This had never happened in past. Usually, three to four students score perfect marks. More surprising six – seven students out of 67 have come from just one centre of Haryana which raises an eyebrow,” said Dr Raghvendra.

The JDN national body has also questioned that why the provision of grace marks (due to time wastage) was not informed before the examination. “Why did the National Testing Agency come up with a new rule after the examination?” he asked

The junior doctors’ body has pointed out that many students received different marks on their scorecards compared to their QMR sheets. These discrepancies were not due to grace marks as these students were not from the centres where grace marks were purportedly given.

Unprecedented increase in cut-off

The JDN alleged there has been an unprecedented increase in the cut-off. The AIR of the same score has increased three to four times compared to the previous NEET examination.

“The most glaring question is that the NEET 2024 paper was reportedly leaked in many locations but no action has been taken yet,” said Dr Raghvendra.
