Ranchi, Dec 9: The third day of the Jharkhand Assembly’s Winter Session began today. As soon as the proceedings started, Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi raised the issue of alleged irregularities in MBBS admissions.
He said that serious discrepancies were taking place in MBBS enrolment across the state and that the medical counselling process was being manipulated.
Marandi accused the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) of violating the guidelines laid down by the Medical Counselling Committee. He said the Board was not following the prescribed rules during counselling.

According to him, after the NTA conducts the examination, it releases the results and sends them to the Board, but due to the system not being linked with the NTA portal, irregularities occur in the counselling process.
He further alleged that this was being done deliberately to benefit certain individuals. Marandi said that because the NTA portal was not linked, students were able to submit caste, residential and other documents that were incorrect, affecting dozens of candidates.
He demanded that the government immediately remove the top officials of the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board, cancel the counselling process, conduct it afresh, and order a CBI investigation.
Marandi warned that if the government failed to meet these demands, the Opposition would disrupt the proceedings of the House.
