Dhanbad, Nov 29: Dhanbad Marwari Sammelam district president Krishna Agrawal will sit on indefinite ‘Satyagraha’ at Gandhi Sewa Sadan from tomorrow (Thursday) in protest against increasing attack and extortion demand from traders.

Criminals have no fear of police

Krishna Agrawal while talking with media persons alleged that law and order have been completely paralyzed in Dhanbad. Criminals have no fear of the police. Attack and extortion demands from traders have increased.

“The Deputy Commissioner (DC) got agitation of traders called off on assurance but has not initiated any action against criminals roaming openly in the coal city and demanding extortion. So, he was left with no option but to launch a Satyagraha for safety,” said the Marwari Sammelan district president.

Trade associations’ support 

 Several organizations including  District Marwari Sammelan, Jharkhand Petroleum Dealers Association, Dhanbad District Chemists and Druggists Association, and Federation of Chamber of Commerce have supported his indefinite Satyagraha.

Surge in extortion demands

Attacks and extortion demands from traders in the coal city have increased.  On Tuesday, a criminal demanded extortion of Rs 20 lakh from an electronic establishment operator (Sidhi Computer Pratisthan) Kendua. Earlier, a jewellery shop operator of Park Market had received a similar extortion demand in the name of notorious criminals.

Krishna Agrawal was a senior leader of the BJP in Jharia but he resigned last month from the party.
