Ranchi, February 12: Sanju Kumar and Manoj Tiwari of Ranchi got the distinction of wearing triple crowns in the Jharkhand State Master Badminton Championship cum selection trial concluded here at Khelgaon Indoor Stadium.
Singles title of +40 years
Sanju Kumar won a singles title of +40 years, a doubles title of +35 years pairing with Amar Jyoti Bose of East Singhbhum, and a +40 years doubles title pairing with Manoj Tiwari.
Besides +40 doubles, Manoj Tiwari also won +45 singles and +45 doubles titles. Pairing with Awdhesh Kumar Singh, he defeated Mohar Lal Oraon and Pawan Kumar of Gumla.
+45 singles final
In the +45 singles final, he beat Ravi Kumar Sharma of Dhanbad.
Sanju Kumar defeated Satya Prakash of Bokaro in the +40 singles final. In +40 doubles, he beat Ranchi’s pair of Abhinav Rao and Saurabh Suman.
+35 doubles final
In the +35 doubles final, Sanju Kumar’s pairing with Amar Jyoti Bose beat Jitendra Kachhap’s and Saurabh Suman’s pair.

+45 women’s champion
Uma Rani Palit of Ranchi became +45 women’s champion, defeating Suchita Arya. Lolas Kerketta became +55 singles champion, defeating Avinash Kumar Tiwari in the final.
Goa national championship medal winner of Dhanbad, Sanjoy Kumar Sharma, did not participate in this tournament due to a tragedy in their family.
Jharkhand Badminton Association
In the final ceremony, Jharkhand Badminton Association president Dipak Kumar Verma and General Secretary K Prabhakar Rao gave prizes and trophies to winners and runners-up.
Ranchi District Badminton Association secretary cum organising secretary NK Dey, convener Avinash Tiwary, vice-president PS Ghosh, joint secretary Uma Rani Palit, and executive member Gopal Kumar were also present.
On January 10, Ranchi VSNL chief general manager Sanjay Kumar inaugurated the tournament.
