Deoghar, Nov 13: The Deoghar Health Department felicitated 13 private doctors, including state trainer Dr. D. Tiwari, for their exemplary contribution to the Vector-Borne Diseases (VBD) Control Programme.
The felicitation took place during a one-day orientation programme held at the Sadar Hospital auditorium. Civil Surgeon Dr. Yugal Kishore Choudhary presented the awards and lauded the doctors for their active cooperation and support in identifying and managing VBD cases in the district.

The honoured doctors included Dr. D. Tiwari, Dr. Gauri Shankar, Dr. Sikandar Singh, Dr. Nishant Chaurasia, Dr. R. N. Prasad, Dr. Gopalji Sharan, Dr. Major Raja Ram Singh, Dr. Saurabh Saha, Dr. Sunil Kumar Sinha, Dr. Sudhir Prasad, Dr. Nayan Ranjan, Dr. Neeraj Satyam, and Dr. Bijit Biswas (AIIMS Deoghar).

Dr. D. Tiwari, National Vice President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) headquarters, is the only state-level trainer who has trained master trainers across all 24 districts under the VBD Control Programme.

Dr. Gauri Shankar, Secretary of the Deoghar IMA and a private practitioner, was also recognized for his consistent role in implementing government health initiatives.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Choudhary highlighted the objectives of the orientation and emphasized the vital role of private practitioners in disease surveillance and control.

District VBD Officer Dr. Abhay Kumar Yadav gave a detailed presentation on six major vector-borne diseases — Malaria, Filaria, Dengue, Chikungunya, Japanese Encephalitis, and Kala-azar — based on the latest guidelines of the National Vector-Borne Disease Control Programme, Jharkhand.
