Deoghar, July 2: The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Deoghar, celebrated Doctors’ Day by felicitating 36 senior doctors aged over 70 for their outstanding contribution to the medical field and their selfless service to society. The ceremony was held on Tuesday evening at a hotel auditorium in Kunda.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr. K.N. Jha, the senior-most physician of the district, who served as the chief guest. Dr. Ramgopal Singh was the special guest, while AIIMS Deoghar Director Dr. Saurabh Varshney and Deoghar Civil Surgeon Dr. Jugal Kishore Chaudhary were guests of honour.

Tokens of Respect for Medical Stalwarts
Each of the 36 doctors was honoured with a pen, shawl, garland, and memento as a token of gratitude. Among them, Dr. N.C. Gandhi received special recognition for his enduring contribution as a foundational figure of IMA Deoghar.
IMA Deoghar President Dr. Dhanvantari Tiwari, who also serves as National Vice President of IMA, introduced the honorees to the younger generation of doctors, highlighting their years of commitment and excellence in patient care.
Celebrating National Doctors’ Day in Memory of Dr. B.C. Roy
Speaking on the occasion, IMA Secretary Dr. Gaurishankar said, “We celebrate National Doctors’ Day in memory of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, whose birth and death anniversaries both fall on July 1. He also served as the Chief Minister of West Bengal.”
More than 200 doctors from across the Santhal division attended the event, many accompanied by their family members, creating an atmosphere of reverence and celebration.
