Jamshedpur, June 27: A probationary IAS started an enquiry into a complaint of bribe demanded by CO, Gamharia block in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district when a team of ACB (Anti-Corruption Bureau) Jamshedpur nabbed the LRDC office’s clerk while accepting bribe from a local villager in the same district.

The clerk in question was a lady, identified as Swagata Nanda who was caught while taking Rs 8,000 as bribe from the villager known as Singh Soy.

According to sources, Swagata Nanda was supposed to process the mutation papers of Singh Soy’s plot of land.

As the villager was not interested in paying the bribe, he had approached the ACB in Jamshedpur instead and lodged a complaint against the lady staff.

The ACB had first got the complaint verified on its level, then only had spread a net around Nanda and ultimately nabbed her by going over to Seraikela.

The ACB team, which was also included a lady staff had nabbed Nanda soon after Singh Soy had paid her the bribe amount.

Probe initiated against Gamharia CO in another case

In the other case, the probationary IAS, Kumar Rajat has begun a probe against CO, Gamharia, Kamal Kishore after the latter had allegedly demanded Rs 20,000 from a social activist Santosh Kumar Tiwari on June 13 for putting records of a plot of land online.

Tiwari had raised the issue during a “Janata Darbar” program held by Seraikela-Kharsawan’s district Deputy Commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla on June 21. Taking cognizance of the complaint, Shukla has deputed to the probationary IAS for conducting the enquiry.

The land in question is owned by a woman, Bidami Devi wife of Bhubaneswar Sharma. Bidami Devi had applied to get the land records online on February 18, but as the work could not be done allegedly despite repeated attempts, she had approached the social activist for the same.

But the CO, Gamharia, Kamal Kishore has earned a reputation for working diligently even during a span of short period of his posting here.
