Daltonganj, May 11: The Palamu administration has passionately appealed to voters not to make reels or videos of their vote casting as it breaches the confidentiality of the vote and its casting at the polling station.

Principles of secret balloting

An episode of making reels during the casting of votes in the third phase voting in one of the 11 states that went to vote on May 7 has come as a rude shock to the principles of secret balloting.

Nodal officer of the Karmik Koshaang Kundan Kumar who is additional collector said, “We expect every voter to be sensible enough to respect the sanctity of vote and voting. There must not be any foul play to it. It is against the pious sentiments of democracy.”

SDM (Sadar) Anurag Kumar Tiwary, nodal officer of the postal ballot cell, said, “Making reels or videos in the sanctum sanctorum of the polling station which is the voting enclosure is most undesirable which every voter should condemn.”

Indelible ink on finger

Tiwary said it is most illogical and irrelevant to take shots. He said the indelible ink on the finger is the proud proof that a voter has cast a vote.

A visit to the polling station on the day of voting is seen as holy work and a visitor cum voter must ensure that none of his or her act is any prejudicial to the cause of democracy, said Kundan Kumar who has a reputation for being a voracious reader of books and magazines.
