Jharkhand News: BIT Sindri to hold meet on mining projects

Dhanbad, March 28: The Department of Civil Engineering, BIT Sindri, will host two international workshops on April 7 and 10 to mark the institution’s Diamond Jubilee celebration.

Mining Projects with Geosynthetics

Giving this information, Prof ( Dr ) J Kujur, head of the civil engineering department, said that the topic of the April 7 workshop is ‘Research Practice and  Publication’ while the subject of the April 10 workshop is a one-day course on ‘Mining Projects with Geosynthetics’.

Internationally renowned Dr Sanjay Kumar Shukla, founding editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Geosynthetics and Ground Engineering, Spring Nature Switzerland, will be the chief speaker at the April 10 workshop.

Practising civil engineers

“The course will benefit practising civil engineers, academicians, and researchers. Members of different institutions are likely to participate in it,” said Prof J Kujur.

Prof Kujur said the aim of organising such workshops is to produce competent civil engineers by inculcating advanced knowledge and modern technology, promoting quality education, research, and consultancy for industrial and societal needs, and developing leadership qualities by inculcating human values and ethical and moral responsibility in students, he added.

On April 7, workshop participants will be guided on the research method and its publication.
