Ranchi, May 31: Bokaro MLA Shweta Singh and BJP leader Biranchi Narayan have been issued notices and directed to present their respective statements in a case related to the alleged submission of false information in election affidavits.

The notices were issued by Bokaro Sub-Divisional Officer Pranjal Dhanda before going on leave. He served as the Returning Officer during the Assembly elections. As per the notice, both individuals have been asked to appear on June 3 to present their sides.

The issue arose after BJP leader Biranchi Narayan lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer, accusing Shweta Singh of providing incorrect details in her nomination affidavit. The complaint alleged that Singh possessed two PAN cards and four voter ID cards.
It was further claimed in the complaint that Shweta Singh was allotted a quarter in the HSCL colony in Bokaro Steel City in 2013, and rent for the accommodation is still pending. However, in her affidavit, Singh had declared that she had no dues pending with the government.
Acting on the complaint, the Election Commission directed the then Returning Officer of Bokaro to verify the information provided in Shweta Singh’s affidavit. Based on this order, both individuals have now been served notices to present their responses.
