Ranchi, June 4: Bokaro MLA Shweta Singh has requested 10 days to present her side regarding allegations of providing false information in her affidavit. Former MLA and BJP leader Biranchi Narayan appeared and submitted his statement on Tuesday. The Sub-Divisional Officer had issued notices to both, summoning them to present their case on June 3.

The complainant, Biranchi Narayan, submitted a written report to the Sub-Divisional Officer mentioning that Shweta Singh had given incorrect information in her affidavit. It was also stated that she was allotted Quarters No. 562 from HSCPL Bridge.

Additionally, Quarter No. 873 was allotted to her from Bokaro Steel City Bridge. However, she did not disclose any dues related to these two government quarters in her affidavit. She also failed to submit No Dues Certificates concerning these quarters.

Her actions fall under the ambit of ‘Office of Profit’ as per Articles 191(1), 191(1)(a), and 192 of the Indian Constitution. It is considered a punishable offense under Section 125A of the Representation of the People Act. In light of these provisions, the former MLA has demanded appropriate action.

The issue arose after BJP leader Biranchi Narayan lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer, accusing Shweta Singh of providing incorrect details in her nomination affidavit. The complaint alleged that Singh possessed two PAN cards and four voter ID cards.
