SUBHASH MISHRA

Dhanbad, Dec 8: The Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad has sought detailed verification from the Giridih Circle Officer (CO) regarding the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificate submitted by an MBBS candidate.

Questions Over Documents

SNMMCH admission in-charge Dr. Ganesh Kumar said the candidate, Shubham Kumar Mishra, is originally from Giridih district, but all his educational certificates are from Uttar Pradesh. Despite this, he submitted an EWS certificate issued by the Giridih Circle Office, prompting the college to seek clarification.

Dr. Kumar stated that although the candidate has been granted provisional admission, it may be cancelled if the verification report is found adverse. He added that the residential certificate, EWS certificate, and even the candidate’s signatures appear suspicious. “The signature and thumb impression do not match,” he said.

Seat Allocation Details

Shubham Kumar Mishra secured an MBBS seat under the NEET EWS quota for the 2025–26 session. A handicapped quota seat had remained vacant at SNMMCH, and as per rules, it was subsequently allotted to the EWS category. The seat was awarded to Mishra.

Earlier Admission Cancellation

This marks the second such incident in the 2025–26 session at SNMMCH where an MBBS candidate’s certificates have come under suspicion.

Earlier, the admission of Sucharika Dutta from Godda district was cancelled after her documents were found to be fake. She had taken admission under the Scheduled Tribe (ST) quota despite belonging to the general category.

Following verification by the Godda district administration, SNMMCH authorities cancelled her admission.
