Jamshedpur, July 11: In a shocking incident late Thursday night, Samresh Singh alias Guddu, a close aide of Chakradharpur MLA Sukhram Oraon, was critically injured after being shot by unidentified assailants in the heart of Jamshedpur’s busy Bistupur locality.
The attack took place in front of DM Madan School at the popular “Khau Gali” food street around 9 PM.
According to eyewitnesses, Samresh Singh had arrived with friends in a Gorkha jeep to have ice cream when suddenly 3- 4 miscreants in two motorcycles approached and opened fire without warning. A bullet struck Singh in the jaw, causing him to collapse on the spot.

Bystanders immediately rushed him to Tata Main Hospital (TMH), where he is undergoing treatment. His condition remains critical.

Police sources revealed that the attackers had likely been tracking Singh’s movements.
As soon as he stopped near a food stall, they launched a targeted attack.
Two rounds were fired, one of which hit the victim. The sound of gunfire caused panic and chaos, forcing shopkeepers to shut down immediately.
The incident raises serious concerns over law and order, as Khau Gali is typically crowded during evening hours and considered a high-footfall zone.
The ability of the attackers to flee the scene after firing shots in such a public area has cast a shadow on local police efficiency.
