Dhanbad, Aug 23: Chetan Goenka has been re-elected the President of the Federation of Dhanbad District Chamber of Commerce and Industries for the 2024-26 session, following a closely contested election that concluded late Thursday evening.

Ajay Narayan Lal and Shyam Narayan Gupta were also re-elected General Secretary and Treasurer respectively.

Chetan Goenka secured his position as President by defeating Rajiv Sharma, General Secretary of the Jharkhand Industrialists Traders Association (JITA), by a margin of 34 votes. Goenka received 121 votes, while Sharma garnered 87.

For the post of General Secretary, Ajay Narayan Lal emerged victorious over his sole challenger, former Secretary Rajesh Gupta, with a margin of 22 votes. Lal obtained 115 votes, while Gupta received 93.

Shyam Narayan Gupta successfully retained his position as Treasurer, defeating his closest competitor, Sanjiv Chourasia, by 59 votes. Gupta received 117 votes, while Chourasia managed only 58. The third candidate for the Treasurer post, Prem Gangaseria, received just 32 votes.

Voter turnout

According to the election committee, a total of 208 federation members participated in the poll.
