Jamshedpur, Nov 26: A 10-year-old boy, Vishnu Gorai, was run over by a speeding stone-chips laden 407 truck on NH-33 under the Chandil thana area in Seraikela-Kharsawan district, about 35 km from Jamshedpur, on Tuesday evening.

Local residents rushed the severely injured boy to Tata Main Hospital (TMH) in Jamshedpur immediately, due to which the incident became public only today.

Vishnu, a resident of Bhadodih village, was returning home from tuition on foot when the accident occurred.

Truck Overturns While Fleeing; Driver Escapes

The mishap took place near Bhadodih village, triggering villagers to chase the truck as the driver tried to flee at high speed.
The vehicle soon overturned a short distance away, but the driver managed to escape.

Villagers transported the boy in a car to TMH, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Truck Bears Mark Linked to AJSU Leader

The overturned 407 truck carried the signature mark “HLM – Hare Lal Mahto”, who is the AJSU party’s central committee general secretary and owner of a crusher plant in Chandil.

A few months earlier, another truck carrying stone chips with the HLM mark was reportedly involved in a fatal accident at Milan Chowk in Chandil.

Some locals are spreading rumours that since the vehicle belongs to a political leader, the police are not acting with usual speed and are allegedly taking a dilly-dallying approach.
(Police have not confirmed these rumours; the investigation is ongoing.)

Police Begin Probe After FIR Filed

OC, Chandil thana, Dilson Birua, said he came to know about the mishap only on Wednesday.
He stated that because the victim was taken to TMH immediately, the incident did not come to police notice earlier.

“The victim’s parents have lodged an FIR, mentioning the name of Hare Lal Mahto in it. We are investigating the case and will take necessary action against the accused person,” the OC told The Jharkhand Story.
