Jamshedpur, Sept 19: A CoBRA jawan was injured in an IED blast triggered by Naxals in the Saranda forest in West Singhbhum district on Thursday morning.
The injured has been airlifted to Ranchi for treatment at a hospital and the condition of the jawan is stated to be stable.
According to sources, the police had got an intelligence input that several senior Naxal leaders are anchored in the forest stretches under Chotanagra, Manoharpur and Jeraikela thanas area.
Acting on the information, the police had set up a joint team comprising of CRPF, Jharkhand Jaguars and CoBRA and had launched an operation against the rebels on September 16.

Today, the paramilitary forces were busy in detecting the Naxals at bordering area of Chotanagra and Jeraikela thana when the IED went off.
As a result of the blast, a trooper identified as Sugumar R was injured. The injured jawan belongs to 109 batallion of CoBRA and sustained splinter injuries throughout the body.
The police and paramilitary officials had immediately rescued the victim and rushed him to Ranchi by pressing a helicopter in service.
In a press statement, the West Singhbhum police has said that the condition of the injured jawan is stable at the hospital where he has been admitted for treatment.
