Jharkhand News: Daltonganj police discover secret passage to smuggle illicit liquor

Daltonganj, March 10: A team of town police led by its officer in charge, Deobrat Poddar, on Sunday raided the hideouts of illicit liquor and warned people there not to indulge in this illicit trade.

Poddar discovered a secret passage of the illicit bootleggers who like any ordinary people, smuggle illicit liquor from one end to the other end.

Ordinary men, women and children use this secret hole for their daily needs. But at night, it becomes a safe passage for the bootleggers.

In an old wall, a huge escape hole has been created. And through this hole, illicit liquor is smuggled.

The police officer told this correspondent, “I had asked the family head of Dev Bhavan very close to this secret hole to get it plugged with brick months ago, but the family has done nothing tangible.”

“I have again asked the same family to do it at the earliest, and if the family goes back on its word of plugging the secret hole, then police will get it done”, added the police officer.

The police officer even gave his phone number to a boy of this Dev Bhavan, asking him to phone him if there arises any problem.

Asked if people or those who indulge in illicit liquor create hindrances and prevent plugging of the secret hole with brick, to which police officer said, “We know how to deal with such a situation.”

Raid against illicit liquor days ahead of the Holi festival are seen as a pro active policing. Town Daltonganj sees a boom in illicit liquor during the Holi festival.
