Deoghar prepares for grand Shiv Barat procession on Mahashivratri

Dhanbad, Feb 25: The entire Deoghar township, renowned globally as Babadham, is elegantly decorated with colorful spiral lights in anticipation of the Shiv Barat procession scheduled for Mahashivratri on Wednesday evening.

The surrounding areas of the Baba Temple, along with other parts of the township, are also illuminated with vibrant lights, creating a festive atmosphere.

DC’s efforts for a memorable experience

Toran Dwar (entry gates) have been set up at various locations along the Shiv Barat route to ensure smooth movement for devotees and visitors from different states. The district administration has meticulously planned these arrangements to accommodate the large influx of people during the Mahashivratri celebrations.

Deoghar Deputy Commissioner Vishal Sagar, who has been overseeing the decorations for the past week, explained that the primary goal of the decorations is to offer devotees a memorable experience. By creating an enchanting atmosphere, the district aims to leave a lasting impression on visitors long after they return home.

DC monitors preparations for Shiv Barat welcome

Shiv Barat route and key attractions

Rolling out Mahashivratri programme of Shiv Barat DC Vishal Sagar said the Shiv Barat procession will begin at 6 p.m. from KK Stadium and will pass through various key locations such as Bajarangbali Chowk, Tower Chowk, Azad Chowk, Bhairo Chowk, Narsingh Takies Road, Shiksha Sabha, and Chandni Chowk before entering the Baba Temple campus from the East Gate.

The main highlight of the Shiv Barat will be the inclusion of evil spirits, demons, giants, and a group of gods, making it a unique and captivating spectacle.

Local devotees express that the decorations, especially at night, are beyond words. They believe that the vibrant atmosphere will leave an indelible impression on the visitors from both Jharkhand and neighboring states, making their experience of Mahashivratri even more memorable.

The event is organized by the tourism department, with Deputy Commissioner Vishal Sagar personally supervising the arrangements to ensure a grand celebration.
