Dhanbad, June 26: Traders of Krishi Bazar Samiti, Dhanbad, have sought compensation for loss in business due to the closure of the market complex (Bazar Samiti) without prior information in the wake of Lok Sabha elections.
The wholesale traders on Wednesday shot off a memorandum to the secretary of Bazar Samiti (SDM Dhanbad) saying that due closure of the market complex in the wake of elections their business activities remained paralyzed for more than 15 days.
“So, keeping this loss of traders in mind, kindly waive off 15 days rent of Krishi Bazaar Samiti,” said the trader’s body in the memorandum.

Since Krishi Bazaar Samiti was made EVM strong room and counting centre of the Lok Sabha election, the market complex was completely closed for more than 15 days from a security point of view. The election for the Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat was held on May 25 and counting was conducted on June 4.
Due to the closure, wholesale traders of fruits had to unload trucks from other states on roads out of the market complex which caused massive damage in dispatching.
Wholesale traders have also demanded alternative routes to Krishi Bazar Samiti. They said traders have been demanding it for a long time. “Had there been an alternative route traders would have not faced such loss. Assembly election is at hand. A similar situation would appear again. So, kindly open alternative routes on a priority basis.
Traders have also demanded an officer room for the Chamber of Krishi Bazar Samiti so that they could conduct business activities smoothly.
