Dhanbad, September 14: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) successfully rescued a drug-addicted teenage girl at Dhanbad railway station on Saturday.
1st Division Judge and DLSA Secretary Rakesh Roshan reported that Para-Legal Volunteers (PLVs) Arvind Kumar and Prannath discovered the girl lying unconscious under the influence of drugs on Platform No. 7 during an inspection. They also found dendrite glue in her possession.

Plan for rehabilitation
Following medical evaluation, the girl will be sent to a child home for treatment and rehabilitation with the assistance of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and local police.

“On the directive of Principal District and Sessions Judge cum DLSA Chairman Ram Sharma, a special drive is ongoing in the district to rescue and rehabilitate children. So far, five children have been rescued in this campaign,” said DLSA Secretary Rakesh Roshan.
The 13-year-old girl, whose parents are rag pickers, admitted to acquiring the drugs from Asansol railway station. There are also suspicions about her involvement with drug peddlers.
CWC Dhanbad Chairman Uttam Mukherjee, Ajay Kumar Bhatt, and PLVs were present on the occasion.
