Jharkhand News: DLSA Secretary conducts surprise inspection of Dhanbad Jail

Dhanbad, April 23: Sub-Judge and Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Mayank Tushar Topno, carried out a surprise inspection of Dhanbad Jail on Tuesday, directing prison officials to ensure that inmates are provided with all facilities in accordance with regulations.

The inspection was conducted on the directive of Principal District and Sessions Judge Virendra Kumar Tiwari.

Accompanied by members of the Legal Aid Defence Counsel System (LADCS), the DLSA Secretary interacted with inmates in each barrack to assess their health conditions, medical treatment, availability of clean drinking water, quality of food and breakfast, and access to legal aid.

During the inspection, Sub-Judge Topno instructed the jail doctor to refer seriously ill inmates to higher medical centres for appropriate treatment. He also directed the jail administration to ensure that children of women inmates are provided with milk and other essential items.

Apart from inspecting the barracks, the team also reviewed the jail library, kitchen, and the quality of food being served.

LADCS deputy counsels Ajay Bhatt, Suman Pathak, Neeraj Goel, and Kanhaiya Lal Thakur were part of the inspection team. DLSA assistant Arun Kumar, Saurav Sarkar, Rajesh Singh, and Vishal Kumar Singh were also present during the visit.
