Ranchi, Nov 29: Delhi Public School, Ranchi, (Classes III–V) celebrated its Annual Function ‘Manthan – The Churning Within: From Creation to Consciousness’ on Saturday, at the Vivekananda Auditorium.

The programme hosted Dr. Amitabh Kaushal, Secretary, Commercial Tax Department and Excise & Prohibition Department, as the Chief Guest.

The evening commenced with a Welcome Song, rendered as a multilingual choir—a luminous tapestry woven with the threads of English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Spanish, French, Japanese and German.

This was followed by an Instrumental Presentation, where young DPSITES were all set to create a symphony of sounds. The performance featured the playful beats of “Jungle Jungle Baat Chali Hai”, the catchy rhythm of “Squid Game “, along with other trending melodies.

Saplings were presented to the guests. Soon after, the dignitaries lit the Ceremonial Lamp, marking the formal commencement of the festivities.

Principal Dr. Jaya Chauhan then extended a welcome to the gathering. In her address, she highlighted the transformative impact of holistic education, emphasizing creativity, character-building and experiential learning at the foundational level.

She also underscored the achievements of the students in various fields, celebrating their excellence in academics, co-curricular activities and sports. She appreciated the efforts of the students and faculty and expressed gratitude to the parents for their support.

The programme proceeded with ‘Prana – The Energy Within’, a Yoga Presentation followed by the Felicitation of Scholars of Classes III–V.

The evening then witnessed an address by the Chief Guest, Dr. Amitabh Kaushal. He commended the school’s dedication to nurturing disciplined, innovative and emotionally intelligent learners. Speaking at length about the qualities needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world, he highlighted the significance of resilience, empathy and ethical decision-making.

Applauding the performances, he praised the Principal and staff for steering the institution with vision, commitment and pursuit of excellence. He encouraged students to remain curious, develop a spirit of inquiry and contribute meaningfully to society with integrity and compassion.

The magnificent theatrical presentation ‘Samudra Manthan’ emerged as the highlight of the evening. The production transported the audience into the mythological realm where gods and demons united to churn the ocean in search of divine treasures. While the narrative depicted the ancient episode in which Lord Shiva consumed the deadly poison to protect creation, the performance drew a profound connection to the present day.

In today’s world, we do not have Lord Shiva to absorb the metaphorical ‘poison’—the ignorance, negativity and social evils that surround us. The presentation emphasized that “Today, the Shiva to be awakened is the innate light within us — the consciousness that empowers us to rise above ignorance and negativity.”

Through expressive enactments, mesmerizing choreography and a deeply symbolic narrative, the students portrayed ‘Samudra Manthan’ not only as a mythological event but as a timeless metaphor for confronting inner turbulence and allowing enlightenment to emerge from within.

As the performances drew to a conclusion, the Grand Finale brought all participants together in a celebration of rhythm, colour and collective spirit. The evening concluded with the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, Principal DPS Ranchi, parents, teachers and students whose collective efforts made the event a resounding success.
