Dhanbad, Jan 18: Dr. Mritunjay Kumar Singh, Head of the Hindi Department, has been unanimously elected as the President of the Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) Post Graduate Teachers Association.
The announcement was made during the association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on Friday evening at the university campus.
Other office bearers elected during the AGM include Dr. Tanuja Kumari of the History Department as Vice-President and Dr. Krishna Murari of the Philosophy Department as General Secretary.

Additionally, Dr. Umesh Kumar Singh (History) and Dr. Rakesh Kumar (Philosophy) were unanimously chosen as Joint Secretary and Treasurer, respectively, for the upcoming term.
Unanimous Decisions and New Leadership
Dr. Mukund Ravidas, a senior faculty, stated that all five office bearers were elected unanimously, as no alternative candidates were proposed for any of the posts. Interestingly, all elected members belong to the 2008 batch of teachers at BBMKU.
The election had been pending for two years following the retirement of former President Dr. Bhagwan Pathak and the elevation of former General Secretary Dr. D.K. Singh as President of BBMKU Teachers Association (BBMKUTA).

Challenges for the New Team
Addressing the issues faced by teachers, Dr. Ravidas highlighted several long-standing problems, including delayed arrear payments, pension distribution, and on-the-spot retirement benefits. He emphasized that the newly elected body must prioritize resolving these challenges.
Promotion Delays for 2008 Batch Teachers
Dr. Ravidas also pointed out the prolonged promotion delays faced by teachers from the 2008 batch, who have yet to receive promotions even after 17 years of service. He expressed hope that the newly elected team would actively work to address this critical issue.
“Teachers from the 2008 batch have been waiting for promotions for 17 years. Addressing this issue will be a top priority for the newly elected office bearers,” said Dr. Ravidas.
Prominent Attendees at the AGM
The AGM witnessed the participation of several prominent teachers, including Dr. D.K. Singh, Dr. Amita Verma, Dr. Gauri Munda, Dr. Leelawati, Dr. Tapti Chakraborty, and Dr. Mousuf Ahmed, who lent their support to the newly formed leadership team.
