Jharkhand News: East Singhbhum chess body felicitates 7 International Arbiters

Jamshedpur, Dec 23: The East Singhbhum District Chess Association (ESDCA) felicitated seven senior International Arbiters (IAs) of the country for their exceptional services in conducting national and international chess tournaments.

The felicitation ceremony was held on Monday evening at the Conference Hall of the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur.

Tata Steel Chief Sports Officer Mukul Vinayak Choudhary, ESDCA Secretary N.K. Tiwari, and Tata Steel Head Sports Captain Manish Kumar Sinha highlighted the crucial role played by International Arbiters in maintaining high standards of officiating in chess.

The arbiters were honoured with shawls and mementoes.

The International Arbiters felicitated were Ambrish C. Joshi (Ahmedabad, Gujarat), Pornia Upalavikar (Tamil Nadu), Agam Aditya E. (Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh), Kanchana Choudhary (Bhopal), Aditya Srivastava, Rakesh Kumar (Begusarai, Bihar), and Dipak Kumar (Ranchi, Jharkhand).

All the honoured arbiters are currently officiating at the National Under-19 Boys and Girls Chess Championship, which is underway in Jamshedpur from December 16 to 24. The championship is being hosted by the Saraikela-Kharsawan District Chess Association.

According to sources, the International Arbiters had arrived in Jamshedpur on the initiative of ESDCA Secretary N.K. Tiwari, following which the association decided to formally felicitate them.

Jharkhand-Bihar’s first International Arbiter, Jayant Kumar Bhuyan, and other office-bearers of the chess association, were also present at the event.
