Jamshedpur, March 17: Acting on the directives of the Election Commission of India (ECI), a meeting was convened by the District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal with the political parties at the district collectorate to further strengthen the electoral processes.

The Representation Rules of Voters, 1960; Election Operation Rules, 1961; the order of the Supreme Court and the Election Commission of India were discussed from time to time, complying with manual and handbook and also discussed about the conduct of independent and fair elections
Focus on Voter List Accuracy
Suggestions of representatives of political parties were invited. The District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner said that the most important thing in the election process is that the voter list should be flawless, and the name of each voter should be recorded in the voter list.

The work of adding, removing, improving etc. in the voter list goes on continuously. He appealed to the representatives of all political parties to be in constant contact with the BLO of their respective region and should cooperate in the updation of the voter list through their booth level agent or worker.

It was also informed that booth-level agents or workers of political parties can submit a maximum of 10 application forms to BLO at a time.
Promotion of Voter Helpline and Voter List Updates
Also, the Deputy Commissioner appealed to spread the 1950 toll-free voter helpline number among the common people as much as possible.
The political parties demanded that voters found absent during inspection should be deleted from the voters’ list.
The Deputy Commissioner said that in the non-election year, action will be taken to remove the name by making a verification report from the BLO of the concerned area.
Election Expenditure and Monitoring
On the matter of election expenses, political parties demanded a re-review of the tender rate at the district level and to make the expenditure to be practised by the monitoring team, on which the Deputy Commissioner said that at the time of determining the rate in future, political parties will also be invited.
The meeting was attended by ADM Law and Order Aniket Sachan, SDM Dhalbhum Shatabdi Mazumdar and ADC Bhagirath Prasad.
