Dhanbad, March 21: Braving heavy rain, the East Central Railway Karmchari Union (ECRKU) observed ‘Protest Day’ on Friday to oppose the increasing pressure on running staff by railway management and to highlight other key demands.

As part of their scheduled program, ECRKU leaders from the Dhanbad Rail Division gathered at the Union’s Branch-2 office in Hill Colony at 5 PM, where they staged a massive demonstration. Following the protest, a memorandum outlining their concerns was submitted to the relevant authorities.

ECRKU Additional General Secretary Md. Ziauddin stated that the protest was held in accordance with the directives of All India Railwaymen’s Federation leader Shiv Kumar Mishra, ECRKU Central Committee President D.K. Pandey, and General Secretary S.N.P. Srivastava.

Similar demonstrations were organized at the headquarters of all East Central Railway (ECR) divisions.
“All running staff, including loco pilots and other railway employees directly involved in train operations, actively participated in the protest,” Ziauddin added.

Prominent ECRKU leaders who took part in the protest included Central Committee Organizing Secretary Netaji Subhash, N.K. Khawas, Jitendra Kumar Saw, Viman Mandal, C.S. Prasad, Pintu Nandan, Bhanu Prakash, Rawinder Rawani, Pradeep Singh, Rohit Roy, Pramod Kumar, Parmeswar Kumar, and Mantu Sinha.
