Jamshedpur, Oct 16: Police solved the Devraj Pillai murder case of Bistupur by arresting eight persons on Wednesday.
Apart from arresting the assailants, the police have seized dagger, two motorcycles, one Scooty and seven mobile phones belonging to them.
Those arrested were identified as Manjeet Singh Gujral alias Anmol, Yash Sonkar alias Chiku, Abhay Kumar Yadav alias Tuntun, Arush Lal, Pratik Kumar, Amrit Singh alias Tidda, Anmol Lal and Joydeep Nayak alias Jojo, all belonging to the age group of 18 to 21 years and residents of Bistupur.
Revealing about the breakthrough, the senior SP Kishore Kaushal said that two groups of youths had clashed in the early hours of October 13 during the pandal hopping. In the clash, the above-mentioned arrested youths had stabbed a 21-year-old youth identified as Devraj Pillai.

After Devraj was critically injured, his friends along with whom he had embarked upon for the pandals hopping had rushed him to Tata Main Hospital where the doctors on emergency duty declared him dead.
“While starting investigation into the murder, the police gathered CCTV footage of the crime scene and took statements of the victim’s friends. Besides we had also started gathering information about the probable suspects. After a concerted attempt, we finally succeeded in reaching the assailants, ” said the senior SP while briefing the newsmen.
Devraj Pillai was a resident of Ulyan in Kadma and was supposed to join a contract firm registered under Tata Steel on Monday.
The police on Wednesday forwarded all the arrested persons to a judicial magistrate for being lodged in the jail.
