SUBHASH MISHRA
Dhanbad, June 11: Debashish Manoranjan Ghosh, former personal assistant to ex-MLA Sita Soren—sister-in-law of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren—has filed a complaint against her, accusing Sita Soren and eight of her associates of abduction, assault, extortion, theft, and criminal conspiracy.

The alleged incident took place on the night of March 6, but Ghosh filed the case 95 days later, on June 10, before Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Arti Mala in Dhanbad.

According to Ghosh, he had approached Saraidhela police station to lodge a complaint soon after being released from jail on May 27, but the police allegedly refused to register his case.

The complaint names eight of Sita Soren’s staff members—Sunil Pasi, Rahul Nonia, Bholu Singh, and Raunak Gupta from Dhanbad, and Ganga Sagar Singh, Vivek Singh, Khushboo Singh, and Rinku Shahdeo from Ranchi.
Details of the Allegations
In his complaint, Ghosh alleged that on the night of March 6, 2025, he was abducted by Sita Soren and her aides at the Sonotel Hotel in Saraidhela. He claims he was brutally assaulted, forced to withdraw ₹4 lakh from his bank accounts via ATM, and coerced into signing blank documents.

He also accused Sita Soren of using her political clout to falsely implicate him in an arms possession case, which led to his imprisonment.
Ghosh further stated that he was wrongfully arrested on the same night, allegedly for pointing a country-made pistol at Sita Soren in the hotel room. He said he had come to Dhanbad that evening with Sita Soren to attend a wedding function in Katras, after which they returned to Sonotel Hotel where the incident occurred.

Court Accepts Plea for Hearing
On March 6, Saraidhela police arrested Ghosh from the hotel and sent him to jail, reportedly with the seized pistol.
On Tuesday, after hearing arguments from Ghosh’s advocate, KK Tiwari, the CJM accepted the plea and admitted the case for hearing.
