Jamshedpur, March 19: Jamshedpur is gearing up for the annual spectacle of the 148th Shri Shyam Nishan Yatra, scheduled to commence on March 20th, announced Anil Modi during a press conference organized in Bistupur.

An initiative under the aegis of the Shri Shyam Ratri Nishan Yatra Committee, the event aims to foster positive religious inclinations among the youth in the city.

Anil Modi, along with Vimal Agarwal and Anil Khandelwal, highlighted the significance of the Nishan Yatra, which was initiated by the committee on the Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of every month. Over time, the event has grown in prominence, marking its 148th edition this month.

Modi emphasized the special reverence for Shyam Bhakti during the month of Falgun, drawing parallels with the grand fair of Shyam Baba organized in Khatu Dham, Rajasthan, which attracts millions of devotees from across the globe.

3000 devotees to participate

The Nishan Yatra, starting from Sakchi Shiv Temple at 6:30 pm, will witness the participation of 3000 devotees carrying Nishans, chanting “Baba Jai” as they traverse through various parts of the city, culminating at Jugsalai Baikunth Dham temple.

Before the commencement, the Nishans will undergo elaborate rituals conducted by priests, followed by the Aarti of Baba Shyam, signalling the initiation of the Yatra amidst chants of “Jai Shri Shyam.”

Yatra’s route

The route of the Yatra encompasses significant landmarks of Jamshedpur, including Sakchi Shiv Temple, Basant Talkies Chowk, Bistupur Post Office, and Jugsalai Gate, among others. The procession will be greeted along the way by various social organizations, adding to the fervour of the event.

Special attractions

Preceding the Nishan Yatra, a Mehndi Utsav will be organized, where women will apply mehendi in the name of Shyam, symbolizing their devotion and reverence towards the deity.

Special attractions during the Yatra include grand flower decorations of Baba Shyam, Holi of flowers, Chhappan Bhog, live bhajans, and various tableaus depicting Gods and Goddesses.

Coupon collection centres

For the convenience of participants, Nishan coupon collection centres have been established at multiple locations across Jamshedpur. Further details regarding the journey can be obtained by contacting Gaurav Khandelwal and Nitesh Aggarwal.
