Dhanbad, Nov 27: Principal District and Sessions Judge Virendra Kumar Tiwari on Wednesday established the ‘Free Legal Service Unit for Children’ in Dhanbad.
Rakesh Roshan, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and Civil Judge First Division, has been appointed the committee’s chairman.
Other members include retired judicial officer Piyush Kumar (Chairman, Permanent Lok Adalat), LADCS Deputy Chief Ajay Kumar Bhatt, panel lawyer Abhijit Kumar Sadhu, Vishwajit Kumar Singh, Jitendra Kumar Nishad, Karuna Sinha, Hassan Imam, Hari Vishwakarma, Niraj Kumar Singh, Sandeep Kumar, Chandan Kumar, Ajit Kumar Das, Navin Kumar, Rajesh Kumar Singh, Pankaj Verma, Nimai Pramanik, Yogeshwar Nath, Vinay Kumar Sinha, Anamika Singh, and Sita Kumari.

In his inaugural address at a two-day workshop organised by the DLSA, Principal District and Sessions Judge Virendra Kumar Tiwari emphasised, “Children are the future of the country, and it is our responsibility to nurture and protect them.”
He further stated that the Free Legal Service Unit has been set up in Dhanbad in response to a directive from the Supreme Court (NALSA). “This unit will provide friendly legal aid and assist children in accessing benefits and facilities from all government welfare programs,” he added.
On this occasion, DLSA Secretary Rakesh Roshan briefed the unit members on their roles and responsibilities, while Juvenile Justice Board member Poonam Singh highlighted the various government welfare projects aimed at supporting children.
