THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

New Delhi, April 24: Accused in the money laundering case related to the land scam, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, has knocked on the door of the Supreme Court. Through his lawyers, he has filed a Criminal SLP (Special Leave Petition) in the apex court.

In his petition, he has argued that the Jharkhand High Court, while hearing his petition filed on his behalf, reserved its decision on February 28 on his plea challenging arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Despite nearly 55 days passing, the High Court has not yet pronounced its judgment. Therefore, he has sought refuge in the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, Hemant Soren has also requested interim bail from the Supreme Court. Advocate on record for the Supreme Court, Pragya Singh Baghel will represent former Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s side.

Currently, this case has not been listed for hearing in the Supreme Court.
