Ranchi, May 23: IAS officer Vinay Choubey, arrested in connection with the liquor scam, was admitted to RIMS Ranchi on Thursday evening after his health worsened.

His medical reports have been sent to the Nephrology Department, where specialists are currently reviewing and evaluating them. Choubey reportedly suffers from high blood pressure and kidney-related issues, for which nephrologists will now conduct further tests.

On Thursday night, Choubey’s wife went to RIMS to meet him with home-cooked food. However, she was not allowed to meet him, and the food she brought was returned. She left without making any statement to the media.

On Friday morning, Assistant Professor Dr. Rishi Gudiya examined his condition. Earlier, a team of doctors from the Medicine Department had been trying to stabilize his blood pressure.
In line with the court’s directions, a medical board meeting was held on May 21. Based on a review of Choubey’s medical records, the board—comprising senior RIMS doctors—recommended that he be admitted to RIMS for better treatment, citing serious kidney issues. Acting on this recommendation, he was transferred from Birsa Munda Central Jail to RIMS on May 22.

Vinay Choubey and Gajendra Singh were arrested on May 20 by Jharkhand ACB. After their arrest, both were produced before the special ACB court, which remanded them to judicial custody until June 3.
Prior to their court appearance, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) interrogated both officers for nearly six hours.
