Jharkhand News: IIT ISM Professor to get Groundwater Excellence Award

Dhanbad, Feb 17: Prof. Prasoon Kumar Singh from the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad has been selected for the Groundwater Excellence Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to groundwater science and sustainable management.

The Indian National Chapter of the International Association of Hydrogeologists (INC-IAH) has chosen Prof. Singh for this prestigious honor. The award will be presented at the upcoming INC-IAH National Seminar, scheduled to be held at Amity University, Jaipur, on March 1-2, 2025.

Contributions to Groundwater Research

A distinguished academician and researcher, Prof. Singh has made significant strides in groundwater research. His work focuses on sustainable water management, hydrogeology, and environmental geochemistry.

Last month, Prof. Singh was appointed chairman of the technical committee for the Accreditation Scheme for Prospecting Agency (APA) and Mining Plan Preparing Agency (MPPA) by QCI-NABET (Quality Council of India – National Accreditation Board for Education and Training). QCI-NABET is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

Prof. Singh is actively involved in various esteemed professional organizations, including:

  • International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS)
  • Indian Association of Hydrologists, Roorkee

Academic Achievements

An accomplished scholar, Prof. Singh was awarded the Prize Book Award for securing the top position in M.Sc. (Geology) from Patna University.
