Dhanbad, May 7: The Civil Engineering department of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad today joined hands with Teree Armee, Reinforced Earth India Pvt Ltd for research collaborative work in real site problems and internship of students of IIT (ISM).
Reinforced earth technique
Teree Armee, Reinforced Earth India Pvt Ltd is the inventor of the reinforced earth technique, designer and supplier of Geotechnical Engineering Structures.
In this regard Atanu Adhikari chief development officer (CDO) of Terre Armee India and Prof Sagar Pal, dean (Research & Development) of IIT (ISM) signed the MoU in the presence of Col. Soumendra Banerjee, vice-president of M/s Teree Armee and Prof Sarat Kumar Das, head of the department of Civil Engineering at the office of Dean Research & Development) of IIT ISM.

Prof Sowmiya Chawla, associate professor of the Department of Civil Engineering, who was present on the occasion as the coordinator of joint collaborative projects, said that as per the MoU, both organizations will work together to execute any project on the ground that comes before them.
Modelling and research
“While IIT ISM being the academic partner of the MoU will deal with the modelling and research part, the Teree Armee will be executing the project on the ground with the support of the IIT ISM technical expertise,” said Prof Chawla.
She said that the advantages of the MoU will be for internship opportunities for B Tech & M Tech students. M/s Teree Armee, Reinforced Earth India Pvt Ltd will provide six six-month internships for the students and help to improve their placement prospects.
