Ramgarh, June 5: On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) took out an awareness rally from Subhash Chowk to the old Sadar Hospital campus.

Doctors from IMA, Atal Clinic, Urban Health Centre, Civil Surgeon’s Office, members of Micro Lab Pharmaceutical Company, Jamalta’s lab technician group and paramedical staff of the Private Nursing Home Association collected plastic and other waste from the roadside along the way with a plant in their hands and slogans related to environmental protection on the placard in the awareness rally. All of them together planted trees on the Sadar Hospital campus.
Environmental protection as a campaign
IMA Secretary Dr. Thakur Mrityunjay Kumar Singh said that we all should take environmental protection as a campaign. There is a need to work on this year’s theme – Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience, to balance the environment.

He made a general appeal to the people for this:

- Every person should plant at least five trees. Plant a tree on all the festive days of your life like birthdays, wedding anniversaries etc.
- Take a pledge for a plastic-free India. Do not use plastic and make others aware of this.
- Use a rain harvesting system in every building. Collect rainwater so that the water level remains maintained.
- Do not throw garbage or plastic in rivers and ponds.
“To avoid natural disasters, infectious diseases, extreme heat, earthquakes, landslides, floods, epidemics etc., we have to respect nature and protect the environment,” he added.

Akmal, Ram Nirek Dubey of Jamalta, Vivek Singh, Ravi Shekhar Singh, Abhimanyu Mukesh, Vinod, Sunil, Vipin and paramedical staff of the private nursing home were present at the awareness rally and tree plantation.
