Jamshedpur, April 12: The International Maithili Parishad is gearing up to celebrate Mithila Day alongside the traditional folk festival, Judi Sheetal Parv, on April 14th.

The event will take place at the Lakshminath Goswami Committee (Baba Kuti) premises in Bishtupur, promising an array of cultural festivities and culinary delights from the heartland of Mithila.

One of the highlights of the event will be the showcase of traditional Mithila dishes, including Dal Puri, Mango Chutney, Dahi Bada, Karhi Badi, Jalebi, Dal, Bhaat, Curd, and more.

Attendees, including Maithili speakers and esteemed guests from the city, will have the opportunity to indulge in these authentic delicacies, complete with a traditional clay tilak.

Cultural performances

Moreover, the event will feature discussions on Mithila Day and the empowerment of women in the Mithila region, shedding light on important socio-cultural aspects. Cultural performances will further enrich the celebration, showcasing the vibrant heritage of Mithila.

Felicitation of women and environment protection

In a gesture of recognition, women who have made significant contributions in various fields such as medicine, education, entrepreneurship, sports, music, painting, script, literature, and theatre will be honoured during the event.

Highlighting the environmental significance of the folk festival, Judi Sheetal Parv, the organizers emphasize its role in promoting environmental protection and collective efforts for plant conservation and water source preservation, particularly during the summer months.

The announcement was made during a press conference organized by the International Maithili Parishad, where key officials including Council President Ashok Kumar Lal Das, General Secretary Vipin Jha, Central President of the Literary Cell Dr. Ashok Avichal, Central General Secretary Dr. Ravindra Kumar Chaudhary, State Secretary Pankaj Kumar Jha, and Council Secretaries Krishna Kamat, Vinayak Shankar, Tarun Kumar, among others, shared insights into the upcoming celebration.

As anticipation builds for the Mithila Day and Judi Sheetal Parv festivities, the event promises to be a captivating blend of culture, tradition, and community spirit, celebrating the rich heritage of Mithila while fostering dialogue on pressing societal issues.
