Jamshedpur, Dec 12: The Faculty of Commerce at Karim City College, Jamshedpur, in collaboration with the Board of Practical Training (Eastern Region), Kolkata, and the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, organized a two-day Apprenticeship cum Job Mela to enhance career opportunities for students. The inaugural session, held today, witnessed a strong turnout of students, industry professionals, and recruiters.
Satabdi Mazumder, S.D.O. Dalbhum, Jamshedpur, inaugurated the event as the Chief Guest. In her address, Mazumder highlighted the critical role of practical training and apprenticeships in bridging the gap between academia and industry. She urged students to actively participate in the event to discover potential career opportunities and engage with employers.
The event also featured two Guests of Honour: Ajay Kumar, Assistant Director (Employment) at the Sub-Regional Employment Exchange, Jamshedpur, and K. Chandra Mouli, Assistant Director of the Board of Practical Training (Eastern Region), Ministry of Education.

Mouli elaborated on the benefits of the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) and expressed gratitude to the Government of Jharkhand, Jharkhand University of Technology, and Karim City College for their collaborative efforts in making the event a success.
Dr. Mohammad Reyaz, Principal of Karim City College, extended his gratitude to the Board of Practical Training for their continued support. Dr. M.M. Nazri, HOD of Commerce and Coordinator of the event, introduced the Apprenticeship cum Job Mela and stressed the importance of hands-on learning for students’ career development.
Over 30 leading organizations, including Tata Steel Ltd., Tata Motors, Timken India Ltd., BCCL, CMPDI, RSB Transmission India Ltd., and Tata Blue Scope Steel Ltd., participated in the event, offering students a wide range of apprenticeship and job opportunities.
The inaugural session concluded with Dr. Aaley Ali, Head of the Department of Geography, moderating the proceedings, while Dr. Aftab Alam delivered the vote of thanks. The event promises to be a transformative platform for students to align their academic pursuits with industry expectations.
