Jamshedpur, Dec 19: The chill of winter in Khariakocha village under Bhatin Panchayat of Potka block turned warm with smiles and joy as Pappu Sardar, a devoted fan of actress Madhuri Dixit, brought festive cheer dressed as Santa Claus.

The day became special for 26 Sabar families as Pappu distributed blankets, woollen caps, sweaters, toffees, biscuits, and laundry essentials among children, women, and the elderly. Known for his philanthropic efforts, Pappu has been serving the underprivileged since 1993 in the name of his favourite actress.

Children beamed with joy as they donned Santa Claus caps, while women enthusiastically participated by wearing the gifted caps. The thoughtful gesture provided much-needed relief to the families, who have been braving the harsh winter with minimal resources.

Abhishek Anand, Secretary of Krishi Utpadan Bazar Samiti (Mandi Samiti, Jamshedpur), accompanied Pappu during the visit and engaged with the Sabar families. He assessed whether they were receiving the benefits of government welfare schemes and reviewed basic facilities in the area. Anand also took the opportunity to inform the families about various government programs aimed at their upliftment and lauded Pappu’s dedication to social service.

Expressing concern over the dire conditions in Khariakocha, Pappu highlighted the lack of adequate footwear and warm clothes for the children. He emphasized the urgent need for government intervention to improve living conditions in Sabar Basti.

Adding to the festive spirit, Pappu visited tribal women harvesting paddy in the fields and gave them caps and toffees. The women expressed their delight by wearing the Santa hats with pride, adding a touch of celebration to their daily toil.
