Jamshedpur, April 4: Adityapur police today arrested a dreaded criminal Mohammed Zameel Ansari alias Chhota Raju who was wanted in connection with the Afsar Ali murder case registered with the Gamharia thana area on March 14.

While arresting Chhota Raju, the police recovered 77.47 grams of “brown sugar” besides two eight MM live cartridges from his possession.
The cost of the seized brown sugar is estimated at Rs 16 lakhs.

A resident of Adityapur Muslim Bustee, Ali was a brown sugar supplier. One of his acquaintances had visited his house and had taken him along on March 13 evening. The next morning his bullet-riddled body was found lying near Sitarampur dam in Gamharia, about eight km away from his house.

In this connection, the police had arrested two persons, namely, Abdul Karim and Fakr Alam on March 22. It had been established from the interrogation of the two arrested persons that Ali’s murder was conspired and executed by Chhota Raju. Since then the Adityapur and Gamharia police had been trying to trace Chhota Raju who was ultimately arrested by the Adityapur police today.
Adityapur thana OC, Rajiv Kumar Singh said after notorious lady drug peddler Dolley Perveen was arrested three years ago, Afsar Ali would run the racket of drug supply in Adityapur Muslim Bustee and elsewhere in the adjoining steel city.
“Ali’s murder was conspired in a sequel to the drug supply racket, Chhota Raju was an important associate of which,” Singh said while talking to the newsmen.
