Jamshedpur, Dec 27: Mystery shrouds the death of a 14-year-old boy whose body was found lying inside a locked residential compound under Kapali OP area under Chandil thana area in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district near Mango on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Mohammed Sabir, son of Mohammad Samir, resident of Taznagar in Kapali.

According to police, a group of youths were playing cricket at a field near the said residential compound in the morning. One of the players had entered the compound to collect the ball, which had incidentally dropped there. But while searching for the ball, he discovered the body.

Soon after, the news spread like wildfire, causing a large number of people in the densely-populated Kapali area to throng to the spot, and eventually the body was identified as that of Sabir.
On getting the information, Sabir’s father too reached the spot and confirmed it to be his son’s body.
Soon, a police party also arrived at the scene and started an investigation.
Kapali OP in-charge Dhirendra Kumar said that a missing person report had been filed by Mohammad Samir on December 26, a day after Sabir, who was a class VIII student of a nearby Bagansahee-based school, had gone missing on December 25.
The OP in-charge said the cause of death cannot be said conclusively at the moment.

“The body has been sent to MGM Medical College (MGMMCH) mortuary for postmortem. We can say whether it is a case of accidental death or murder after getting the autopsy report only,” said Kumar while talking to The Jharkhand Story.
The OP in-charge, on being queried, said that they were scanning through the CCTV footage of the area and in one of the footage the deceased teenager was seen climbing the compound wall.
The house standing inside the compound wall is locked like the compound gate, and the house was vacant.
The tragic death of the boy has cast a pall of gloom across Kapali, and members of the bereaved family were wailing uncontrollably.
