Daltonganj, February 28: National Science Day was observed today at the Government Engineering College at Basoura, Lesliganj.

The National Science Day event was celebrated with lots of zeal and enthusiasm.

The celebration saw the meticulous preparations done for it by Principal Dr Sanjay Kumar Singh and his team.

First-year engineering students acted as volunteers, said Dr Sanjay Kumar Singh.

Around 200 students drawn from 6 schools in the contiguity took part in this National Science Day event, added Dr Sanjay.

There was held a poster making competition. The theme was ‘Science a must for continuous development.’

Dr Singh said the students showed their immense talent and skill in the poster making competition.

A quiz contest was also conducted. Random questionings were done also where the students made responses on the spot.

The great part of the National Science Day event was its Multiple Choice Questions test.

The Multiple Choice Questions were a mix of general knowledge and science. There was a question which of the countries is not a member of G 20. Another question was who is the chairman of the ISRO. Another question a cobbler mends shoes, what does a tailor do etc.

Dr Singh said, “We gave away 20 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 3 bronze medals. There was a lot of excitements among the participants.”

“Simple experiments were shown to the students like how light passes through non opaque object. Smaller issues of physics were discussed,” said Dr Sanjay.

The Government Engineering College is well connected with the local populace as it encourages students of rural schools to aspire to become a big name. This engineering college is now a household name here and the credit for it goes to its principal Dr Sanjay Kumar Singh and his very talented team of faculties.
