Daltonganj, September 6: Nilamber Pitamber University (NPU) is gearing up for the October 3 convocation to be graced by the Governor cum Chancellor of the universities of Jharkhand Santosh Kumar Gangwar.

However, a few student bodies have urged the Raj Bhavan to extend the date, since Dussehra ends on October 2 and boys and girls will find it too hard to make it up to October 3.

District administration too will be under pressure on account of the immersion processions of the idols, said administrative sources.

University Finalizes Preparations

Speaking to this correspondent on Saturday, Vice Chancellor Dr Prof. Dinesh Kumar Singh said, “We are pulling all our stops for the October 3 convocation here.”

As part of the preparations draft of speech of the Chancellor and draft message for the Souvenir again of the Chancellor have been sent to the Raj Bhavan for approval.

The university is also working on a minute-to-minute schedule for the Chancellor, which too is to be cleared by the Raj Bhavan in consultation with the security officials.

Focus on Austerity and Guest Arrangements

“Austerity measures will be in place. There will be no extravaganza or spendthrift. Every single pie will be accounted for,” reiterated the VC.

Among the distinguished guests will be the members of Parliament, the state finance minister, the minister of education, the secretary of the higher education etc.

As the territorial jurisdiction of the Nilamber Pitamber University falls in 3 districts, there are two members of Parliament, namely Vishnu Dayal Ram of Palamu Lok Sabha seat and Kalicharan Singh of Chatra Lok Sabha seat.

Logistics and Infrastructure Challenges

The university is worried about the metallic road to the venue, which is stadium, as the existing road is unworthy of the VVIP at the moment.

The university is planning to engage two 1,000-litre capacity drinking water tankers for the use of students and others.

It’s not clear as to whether the governor cum chancellor will be coming by road or by chopper.

A few months back, the governor cum chancellor had graced the convocation ceremony of the Ramchandra Chandravanshi University in Bishrampur here in Palamu, travelling down from Raj Bhavan by road.

It is most expected that the governor cum chancellor may like to attend this October 3 convocation ceremony of the Nilamber Pitamber University in Daltonganj, coming over here by road.
