Dhanbad, August 7: The nomination process for the 2025–27 term of the Dhanbad Bar Association began today. The election will be conducted on August 30, followed by counting of votes on August 31.

To ensure smooth and fair conduct of the election, the Jharkhand Bar Council has appointed three senior advocates from Dhanbad—Ayodhya Prasad, K.D. Sharma, and S.I. Singh—as election officers.

Additionally, two observers, Advocate Sanjay Bidrohi from Ranchi and Advocate Parmeswar Mandal from Giridih, have been designated by the State Bar Council to monitor the process.

Key Dates and Positions

According to the three-member election committee, the last date for filing nominations is August 11. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on August 12 and 13. Candidates may withdraw their nominations until 4:30 PM on August 14.

The elections will be held for 16 positions including: President, Vice President, General Secretary, Secretary (Administration), Secretary (Library), Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, and nine Governing Council Members.

Candidates Begin Filing for Key Posts

As of now, four candidates have purchased nomination papers for the post of President. These include the current president Amrendra Kumar Sahay, former presidents Radheshyam Goswami and Kansari Mandal, and H.N. Singh.

For the post of General Secretary, five candidates have taken nomination papers: Jitendra Kumar (the current General Secretary), Jaya Kumar, Meghnath Rawani, Videsh Daa, and Praveen Krishna.

Advocate Zubair Alam has collected nomination papers for the position of Governing Council Member. More names are expected to surface in the coming days as the nomination process progresses.
