Dhanbad, June 6: Notorious criminals from three different states were arrested on Friday while allegedly plotting a major crime in the Patherdih Coal Washery area, located around 20 km from the district headquarters.

Dhanbad City Superintendent of Police (SP) Ritvik Shrivastav informed the media that acting on a tip-off about the gathering of criminals in the district, a police team was swiftly formed and conducted a raid at the suspected location. The team successfully apprehended all three suspects on the spot.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ashutosh Kumar Satyam was also present at the press briefing.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Prince Kumar (18) from Balia district, Uttar Pradesh; Sumit Bauri (19) from Purulia district, West Bengal; and Sunny Singh (29) from Nawada district, Bihar. According to the SP, the trio had assembled to plan criminal activities in the area.

“All three are history-sheeters and have been involved in various crimes in Jamshedpur and Dhanbad previously,” Shrivastav stated. He added that Sunny Singh from Bihar had been jailed in 2019 and 2023 for dacoity and cyber fraud.

During the raid, police recovered one 9mm revolver, two live 9mm cartridges, and a mobile phone from their possession.

This is the second major arrest of interstate dacoits in Dhanbad within three days. Earlier on Tuesday, police had arrested four criminals from other states, also found in possession of arms.
