Daltonganj, April 20: The supply of electricity has been restored to the administrative building of the Nilamber Pitamber University in Daltonganj after two days of power shutdown following the bursting of a cable.
The NPU has a serious power supply issue.
NPU has no support system
Acting registrar of the Nilamber Pitamber University, Dr Mritunjay Kumar, said, “We have no support system to look after the electricity installation. It’s a huge administrative building. We need expert hands to deal with the electricity.”
The registrar said it’s not only bulbs, fans, and ACs in the university. It’s an electricity system that needs a setup to be handled professionally.
Dr Mritunjay Kumar said the NPU has one hand which does not even know how to screw or mend fuses. The acting registrar added that such a huge installation of electricity here in the university calls for a pragmatic approach.

The executive engineer of electricity, Daltonganj division, Shambhu Nath Choudhary, told this correspondent today, “The university has submitted Rs 6,43,32,282 to the electricity department.”
Choudhury said this is for the underground cabling of 33KV. The electricity department will first lay the cables from its substation for the supply of electricity.
The executive engineer said, “As for laying the underground cables, our department has to seek NOC from the road, the National Highway Authority of India, and Medininagar Municipal Corporation.”
“I have sent letters to each of these three seeking NoC for laying cables to supply 33 KV electricity to the NP university, but I await their response. I believe I am to send a reminder, which I will do in a day or two.”
